Ultrascan Technologies was founded by Dr. Yahya Docrat, a clinician who experienced first-hand the diagnostic gap that exists across South African healthcare. Working in both urban and rural settings, the contrast was stark — the same clinical questions, but vastly different tools available to answer them.
The premise was straightforward: wireless, pocket-sized ultrasound technology had advanced to the point where a device small enough to clip to a stethoscope could produce diagnostic-quality imaging. The barrier wasn't the technology — it was access, awareness, and price.
Ultrascan was built to close that gap. By sourcing certified, high-quality devices directly and keeping the supply chain lean, we can offer technology that previously cost hundreds of thousands of rands at a fraction of the price — without compromising on quality, certifications, or clinical performance.
Today, Ultrascan supplies five point-of-care devices across ultrasound and vascular imaging, serving general practitioners, specialists, emergency physicians, veterinarians, and allied health professionals across South Africa.
