About Us

Built on a belief.
Diagnostics for everyone.

Ultrascan Technologies exists because powerful clinical tools shouldn't be limited to well-resourced urban centres. We're changing that — one device at a time.

Who We Are

A medical technology company built for Africa.

Ultrascan Technologies is a doctor-led South African company specialising in sourcing and supplying cutting-edge, point-of-care diagnostic devices. We focus on placing powerful, portable tools directly into the hands of clinicians — bridging the gap between remote communities and specialist urban centres.

Our philosophy is simple: By Clinicians, For Clinicians. Every product we carry, every decision we make, is filtered through one question — does this genuinely improve the clinician's ability to diagnose and treat patients?

We are Johannesburg-based, with local stock, local support, and a commitment to being genuinely accessible — not just another overseas catalogue website.

By Clinicians, For Clinicians
Founded and led by a practising doctor, our clinical perspective shapes everything — from product selection to how we support our customers.
Focused on Africa
We understand the infrastructure, the budgets, and the clinical realities of healthcare delivery across the African continent.
Radical Accessibility
Disruptive pricing paired with interest-free payment plans means hospital-grade POCUS is now within reach for private practices and startups.

Ultrascan Technologies was founded by Dr. Yahya Docrat, a clinician who experienced first-hand the diagnostic gap that exists across South African healthcare. Working in both urban and rural settings, the contrast was stark — the same clinical questions, but vastly different tools available to answer them.

The premise was straightforward: wireless, pocket-sized ultrasound technology had advanced to the point where a device small enough to clip to a stethoscope could produce diagnostic-quality imaging. The barrier wasn't the technology — it was access, awareness, and price.

Ultrascan was built to close that gap. By sourcing certified, high-quality devices directly and keeping the supply chain lean, we can offer technology that previously cost hundreds of thousands of rands at a fraction of the price — without compromising on quality, certifications, or clinical performance.

Today, Ultrascan supplies five point-of-care devices across ultrasound and vascular imaging, serving general practitioners, specialists, emergency physicians, veterinarians, and allied health professionals across South Africa.

What We Stand For

Our principles.

The values that guide every product decision, every conversation, every partnership.

01
Clinical integrity first
We only supply devices we would use ourselves. Every product in the Black Series is CE, FDA, ISO 13485, and SAHPRA approved — no exceptions.
02
Honest accessibility
Disruptive pricing isn't a marketing line. We've structured our business to make premium diagnostics genuinely attainable — with interest-free payment plans to match.
03
Local presence matters
Johannesburg-based with real stock on the shelf. When you need support, you speak to someone who understands your context — not a call centre overseas.
04
Education over sales
We invest in clinical education because informed clinicians make better decisions for their patients. Our goal is to build capability, not just move units.
05
Africa-first thinking
Every decision is made with the African healthcare landscape in mind — the infrastructure, the budgets, the clinical burden, and the extraordinary potential.
06
Long-term relationships
We're not a transactional supplier. We aim to be a clinical partner — available for demos, support, and ongoing education long after the sale.
Community Impact

Diagnostics beyond the practice.

Access to diagnostics isn't just a commercial challenge — it's a social one. Ultrascan Technologies is committed to using its platform and technology to extend diagnostic capability into underserved communities across South Africa.

Through community screening programmes, we take point-of-care devices directly into communities that would otherwise have no access to ultrasound or vascular imaging. These initiatives — including annual Nelson Mandela Day outreach events — are not marketing exercises. They are a core part of why this company exists.

We believe that the same technology that serves a specialist practice in Sandton should be accessible in a rural clinic in Limpopo. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.

Our social mission is non-negotiable
